LTA Assistant Core Training Level 1
A two day qualification ideal for:
- Tennis parents
- Enthusiasts
- Keen players
- People considering a career change into sports coaching
- Anyone 16 years + on or before the first day of the course
Prerequisites
You will need to be 16+ on the first day of the course.
Course Outcomes
Competencies
On completion of the course you will be able to
- Assist in group coaching sessions
- Assist in running competitions
- Gain a basic understanding of safeguarding in tennis
Knowledge and Skills
The course will prepare you to assist a Lead Coach at any venue to deliver high quality tennis coaching to children. The course primarily focusses on coaching 8&under players, but the skills learnt can be transferred to working with older children or even coaching other sports.
During the course you will develop:
- Communication, organisation and differentiation skills
- Awareness of teaching technique, tactics, physical development and mental skills appropriate to 8&U players
What's included?
Core Training
Two days of face-to-face training delivered by an expert tutor
Experience
4 hours of experience assisting a lead coach working with 8&under players (you can organise this with your local tennis venue or ask a tutor on the course for help finding a venue).
Online Learning
Comprehensive on-line learning system which supports face-to-face delivery. This includes supporting documents, online tests and video submissions.
Assessment
Your online work will be graded including two video submissions. Your tutors will take you through what you need to do and there are lots of supporting documents online. Once your assessment has been graded you will receive a Pass, Merit or Distinction and hold a qualification as an LTA Assistant.
